The first 100 sight words can represent over 50% of English text. I have even used the color it page as a play-doh mat, and students make the sight word out of play-doh first, then color it in!įriday: Students reread the story and do the “Connect It” activity. This is a favorite! Students can color in the bubble sight word, use colored construction paper to tear and glue color onto the word, or paint the word. Thursday: Students reread the story for more fluency practice and complete the color it page. Students practice writing the sight word and when they finish, I let them get the chalkboards and do sight word chalk time. Wednesday: Students reread the story (partners, choral read, guided reading group time etc…) and complete the “Write It” activity. For the “Find It” activity, students find the sight word being practiced in the table of words, and color it in with a crayon or use a highlighter (my kids are a big fan of highlighters). Tuesday: Students read the story in partners and complete the fun “Find It” activity. Monday: Practice reading the story and tracing the sight words.
